How do I ask my stylist to cut my hair in a masculine style?
I'm transgender but not transexual (genderqueer I guess you could say; I bind, I wear male clothing, etc. But I'm not sure I want surgery) & I wanted to get a more masculine haircut. My stylist has known me from when I dressed like a girl and I don't know how to ask her to cut my hair as if I were male. I want her to take off half my length making my hair ear length and use a razor to layer it but i don't want it so femme. Thanks

- you could always try a different hair stylist? One that will see you for who you are now, not what you looked like before, and cut your hair to suit you. If anything you coul go on the internet, look at different hair cuts and use it as reference when you go see her. for ex. I wanted a less "straight girl" hair so I went in with a pic of an actress on the L word, and got just that. If I went to the stylist that cut my hair when I was young, or not out of the closet, I'd probably look like Betty Boop!
- just say u want to try something new and explain to her what you want... Be true to yourself n dont be afraid to be u... its ur life ya kno so live it...
- You can do what I did, which is find a picture of a girl online that has the hair cut you want. Find one that looks like, while it may look pretty feminine on her it'll probably look pretty masculine on you, and show it to your stylist when you get your hair done. You could try and find one that's also fairly feminine too, if you're too wimpy, and then later just gel it up. Hope that helps. :)
- Take her in pictures...There are more than ample magazines out there for you to choose from, and this will give her a better ideas as versus "words". But first, before she gets started, make sure that what she is doing or going to do is what you want...!!! Rachelle In High Heels.
- Most stylists have an assortment of pictures of various styles. Look through her pictures till you see one you like, then ask her if she can make you look like that. You may love it. If not, you know it will grow back.
