Difference between feminine male and transgender?

Should feminine males be considered transgender? What type of feminine male is transgender and what type is not? I am very feminine, because I usually like the feminine outlook, sensitivity and glam more than macho ruggedness. I am straight guy and hang out with women, but I also usually enjoy only company of women rather than men. I don't desire to wear women's clothes or anything but often wish I were born a girl because I enjoy the feminine tastes and preferences. Is that transgender?

  2. Transgender people are transgendered, feminine males are just that, a feminine guy. The big difference: The feminine guy most likely considers himself a guy, only he likes what society labels as feminine.
  3. Well, I don't think so. Of course, if you identify that way, that's fine, I won't tell you what to think. Just because you have feminine traits doesn't mean you're not a "real" man, or only partially a man. My situation is much like your's: I would be born a girl if I could choose, but I've got no desire to go on hormones or anything like that because I don't really think I'm "in the wrong body".
  4. I am much the same way and I do consider myself to be a bit transgendered, atleast somewhere on the androgynous-genderqueer spectrum. I am sometimes ultrafeminine and during that time, I always want to hang out more with women and love to do womanly tasks. Again at other times, I feel more masculine. I also don't wear womens clothes but I sometimes feel I would rather be a girl if I could choose. But transsexualism is different and unless you feel internally as female or feel trapped in wrong body, you aren't so. Transgenderism is an umbrella term to describe all gender variant individuals, including but not limited to feminine males, butch women, drag queens/kings, crossdressers/transvestites, gender-benders, androgynes....
  5. No, transgender is the self-identification as the other gender. You sound more like a femme guy.
  6. The cross-over line seems to be when feminine men start referring to themselves, and "presenting," as women, and insisting that they be referred to as "she." Till then, you're just a feminine male.
